the little kitten

Here is a picture that my friend Janette just sent me... it is of her and the little kitten that I nursed back to health last week. I was kitten sitting him and his two sisters for the weekend (so Janette could volunteer for Catnip), and while at my house got really sick. Basically... he stopped eating and started losing weight. Come to learn that his little sisters were suckling on him (their eyes were barely open...and they were just looking for something similar to mom) anyway... they were over stimulating him to pee and he got super dehydrated. I returned his sisters that weekend, but kept him for the next week to try and nurse him back to health. It took a lot of sub-cutaneous fluids and a few days of force feeding him with a feeding tube...but he bounced back! it was really scary there for a few days...I even had planned out his little kitten funeral in my head (I was going to bury him and plant the "so sweet" hosta that I just bought over him). anyway... I have since returned him to his foster mommy, Janette. Isn't he super cute!! He and his two sisters will be looking for homes! *hint, hint all my loyal readers!!

no... I have not done all of this while recovering. A lot of the yard work I did over memorial day weekend... right before my second surgery. I am still taking it easy, as today is only 2 weeks and a day post surgery. i go in today for my first follow up appointment. I am at work today... visiting (mainly to download pictures, my camera was about out of room) and having lunch with the girls.

Wrigley... the crocheted Kitty

Wrigley was named after the gum... not the field in Chicago. (I
couldn't decide between spearmint or wintergreen... so I went with
wrigley!)

Squirrel Watch

The squirrels were eating all the food out of our bird feeders, so we
set up a squirrel feeding station on the porch. The cats love it...
Unfortunately, the squirrels still eat the food out of the feeders
from time to time. We are just trying to keep the squirrels from
climbing the window screens. I told Mike last night, that we should
just take the screens out... it has been so hot lately, I doubt we
will be opening the windows any time soon!

new plant stakes

I have been having fun with my laminator and forks... making plant
tags/stakes for all my hostas and day lilies (and various other
plants that I know the names of).

My dry creek bed and hosta bed... with new border (to keep out the neighbors weeds!)

Baby Biff!

Here are some new pictures of Biff. He is almost 2 lbs now... well, 1
3/4 pounds. He went to the vet yesterday and tested negative for both
feline aids and leukemia!! YAY!!!

Hello

Hi All... Just a quick update to let you all know that I am doing well after my last surgery (may 28th... aka, my b-day). I seem to be recovering a bit quicker this time around... but I am being very cautious and still not really doing anything b/c the doctors gave me lots of warning that I have more internal stitches and need to be very careful with how much I lift ect... that means no picking up Stachie :-(

on other news.. Mike still loves his job and he met formal football star, Emmitt Smith today.
