My Feral Kitty City...

This is what I built over the Thanksgiving break... After burying another feral cat, run over just two houses down from us, with its head stuck in a can... I can no longer turn a blind eye to the feral problem in our neighborhood. I talked to the people who are the current "caretakers" and they were very excited when I told them I was with Operation Catnip and I wanted to work with them to get the animals fixed and moved to my backyard. The cats will be kept in the kennel for about 2 weeks after they are trapped and/or spayed/neutered. That is the suggested length of time to keep them housed in order for them to get used to the sights and sounds of their new home...otherwise, they would most likely end up leaving.

now, I have to start trapping. should be interesting!

look Mom... I actually did my hair!!!

Only Biff...

would reach out from between the cushions and grab my butt! all the freak'n time! I pull the cushions back and he is like "ta da, it's me!" then he gets out, runs around and jumps on my lap to give me smooches with another "ta da, I'm here" look on his face. Crazy cat. I should have been a stricter mom when he was littler (and he is only 7 months old now!) ... I think I kept him on the bottle too long! spoiled him from the get go, now he doesn't know the word no... well, actually he does, he just ignores it.

My new sweatshirt!!

Here are some pictures of the sweatshirt that I painted for myself! I have gotten rave reviews from my Operation Catnip Buddies! I have told people that if they want me to do a shirt/sweatshirt for them... they buy the shirt and I will paint it. I'm not getting into buying clothes for people...that is just somewhere I don't want to go. B/C I know how picky people can be about clothes and sizes and such. Anyway, It is kind of a price per cat head type of thing. Oh.. and these pictures were taken after I have washed it in the machine (gentle cycle)... I line dried it (didn't have the nerve to attempt the dryer).

Hide & Seek...this weeks featured pets!

Hide and Seek... are two former ferals that have recently decided to turn their foster mom, Kate Flegal, into their furr-ever mom!!

A little message from Kate:
Hide and Seek are inseparable; they LOVE playing and wrestling with each other. My favorite games are when they're being ninjas--it's very "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"! The mid-air collisions are hilarious :) I can come up with plenty of stories if you want specifics. The pictures I have are mostly of them resting--it is, after all, much easier to get a picture of a cat lying down than of mid-air kitty ninjas! Oh--they're up to 8 pounds now!

you can see more of Hide and Seek by checking out Kate's Blog.

Yay for Miss Samantha Jane!!!

YAY!... We have a "real" pet to feature!!! Miss Samantha Jane...she is the beloved Queen and ruler of Pam Gibbons. Sam made Pam write a little info about her...to portray her in the best of light, of course! Here is what Pam had to say:

"Sam recently had her yearly check up and she is in great shape for a senior citizen. She is 15 which I think is 90 in people years. She still runs around the house and jumps up to sleep with me. Samantha has one eye that does not dilate anymore is and wide open all of the time but the doctor did not see anything wrong with it. Sam follows me around the house and sits right behind me so it is a miracle that she does not get stepped on a lot. She loves shoes and if we buy a new pair and leave them on the floor guess who sits on them? She begs for tuna and treats but that is about the only time she talks. When I sneeze she runs to my feet and waits for me to throw the Kleenex away and tries to catch it but she never does. When I eat a meal she sits at my feet especially if it smells good and she usually gets to lick the plate. She has a sixth sense about ice cream on a stick as soon as I open the freezer she appears. She doesn’t like it in a bowl but if I have something like an Eskimo pie she goes crazy and practically jumps on my face wanting a taste. So I always leave a little vanilla ice cream on the stick for her to lick off of it. She has a toy we call “Mr. Bite” and she carries him around when we are not around. I thought it was like Toy Story and “Mr. Bite” came to life when we weren’t around because he gets around the house but one night Sam woke me up making loud noises while carrying “Mr. Bite”. I am not sure if she thinks he is her child or she “loves” him."

Newest featured pets:

Since no one has sent in any pictures (other than Cliff...) I had to come up with some pets to feature. Here they are, Fido, Kitty and Fish... they like to hang around, typically on bumper stickers and things like that. They travel all over the world. They don't talk much... so I don't have much to share about their life stories... sorry.

Featured Pet: Cliff (my nephew)

This handsome gentleman is my nephew, Cliff! I am a proud aunt... especially since he loves me lots and lots (and then there is the little bit about me coming up with his name!!). His daddy, my brother-Chuck, wanted a name that suited his lifestyle... backpacking, hiking, sleeping under the stars at Red River Gorge. ... they frequently slept on cliff's... Many people assume he was named after Clifford the Big Red Dog...or my great-uncle Clifford (whose house Cliff and the rest of his family now call home). No, Cliff was named after cliffs... And this past weekend, he lived up to his name. He fell off a 50+ foot high cliff. It took my my brother a couple of hours to get to him. Cliff was unable to walk... so Chuck drug him where he could and carried him the rest of the way (mostly down steep rocks). After a trip to the Emergency Vet, Cliff surprisingly had no broken bones!!! but, being that he is like 80 in human years... his arthritis flaired up greatly. Chuck has been taking Cliff back-packing since he (cliff) was like 6 months old. He even gets to carry in his own supplies in his very own backpack! Once, he left his favorite toy out at a site. My brother said he knew Cliff didn't have it, I asked him why he didn't grab it for him. He said he told Cliff to get his toy and its his own fault for leaving it behind. ahhh... brothers. I think they found the toy on their next trip! As for my wonderful nephew, I guess his eye sight and depth perception aren't as good as they used to be. I asked Chuck if that would be Cliff's last camping trip... he, of course, said no! Cliff loves to camp... just no more cliffs for my nephew, Cliff!
