Balls in the Bath Tub

So... the kittens have broken out of jail. Mike tried to let Cowboy out of the kitten room yesterday afternoon and their was a jail break! We were able to round them up for bedtime, after about 4 hours of nonstop running around the house. This morning...there was no keeping them in their room. Keep your fingers crossed that all the cat/kittens and the house are all in one piece when we get home.

Ok... so this site is way too much fun. Plus... you can download the songs for free! I now have a "theme song" playlist on my ipod! I have only gotten through the c's... I will have to wait till the morning when my boss is gone before I do any more (it is kind of hard to hide theme songs blaring from your computer! I know, I could turn my sound off, but I like to listen to them before I download!

anyway... this all started when I was doing a search on "the golden girls". I was going to do a little tribute in honor of Estelle Getty for my friends that are Golden Girl fanatics--but, you can see I got a little side tracked! sorry!

Operation Catnip-Richmond

I have recently started volunteering for an organization called "Operation Catnip". They hold a free spay and neuter clinic for feral cats once a month. Yesterday was my first volunteer day and it was quite an intense day... especially since I was feeling a little under the weather. It is an 8 hour day... with little to no breaks. and... to make things worse, the air conditioning was not fully functioning, so it was hotter than you know where!

I think in all, over 70 animals were fixed yesterday! I was in the recovery room, at the fluids station, one of the first stations that the cats come to after surgery. There are a total of 12 to 13 different stations set up at the clinic, with multiple volunteers at each station. It is an assembly line of sorts. Very efficient.... and rather impressive. Paul has a new home!

Little Pauly has a new home. He was adopted by a nice lady named Liz yesterday. He took to her immediately and I think it will be a good match. In addition to being fond of her, he was especially fond of the leather straps on her purse!! Liz's roommate has a six month old male kitty at home, so he will have a playmate. The picture I posted of Tiny in the bus is drawing a lot of attention (on craigslist) and I had a few more calls/emails over the weekend...so hopefully we will find some more good homes for these wonderful babies!

Just a quick little update on the kittens... still no takers. Mike's cousin said she was going to take one, but I am not sure if that will really happen. If she does, it will probably be Molly. One of my contacts with a rescue organization here in town has been spreading the word... Mike has two ladies at work that are interested...but nothing has come of that yet either. I guess I need to brace myself for the possibility of having 13 cats... yikes! anyone out there need a kitten??? mom... don't you want a kitten??? or two?? The Tots...Tiny and Tater would be perfect for you and Larry!!!

Rachel's Sunshine

Just wanted to share with all of you in blog world the picture that I took this morning of one of my newest daylilies, "Rachel's Sunshine" This is her first bloom, isn't it beautiful!?!?! When I saw the name of this little daylily, I had to buy it! And... I've included a picture of the tag, to prove that I didn't make up the name! Hopefully, it will grow like gangbusters (I was able to get 2 plants out of the one pot) and either this fall or next spring I can divide her up and bring some pieces into Cincy for anyone in the family that wants a little piece of Rachel's Sunshine!

Saturday's Project...and a few new hostas!

Here are a few pictures of the dry creek bed that Mike and I made on Saturday. I planted some of my spreads-like-crazy white and green lariope along the creek bed. I planted some bog irises at its base and I am starting to add some hostas, which I got 3 new ones this weekend... they were on clearance at HD and I couldn't resist the ones that I didn't have: Wide Brim, Iona and August Moon. The poor things were so completely root bound, that I am sure they will flourish now that they are in the ground.
